Open Access Policy
Universitas, now known by its variant Universitas-XX1, registered in ISSN as such (https://portal.issn.org/resource/ISSN/1390-8634) is an open access journal entirely free for readers and authors that encourage the re-use and self-archiving of articles in databases, repositories, directories and international information systems. "Universitas" does not charge to publish, that is, there is no fee or payment by the authors and access to its content is completely free. In this sense, Authors retain the copyright of their works and grant UNIVERSITAS-XXI the right to be the first to publish them, both in print and digital formats. «Universitas» has a Creative Commons 4.0 License of Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 which allows copying, using, distributing, transmitting, and publicly displaying the content, provided that authorship is acknowledged, the material is not used for commercial purposes, and it is shared under the same license.
1. Copyright
The works published in UNIVERSITAS-XXI are subject to the following terms:
1.1. Authors retain the copyright of their works and grant the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana (RUC: 0190151530001) the right to be the first to publish them, both in print and digital formats.
The journal promotes and allows the reuse of the works under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0), which permits copying, using, distributing, transmitting, and publicly displaying the content, provided that:
1.1.a. Authorship and the original source of publication (journal, publisher, URL, and DOI of the work) are properly cited.
1.1.b. All articles are made available with immediate open access, allowing any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, crawl them for indexing, process them with software, or use them for any other lawful purpose.
1.1.c. The existence and specifications of this license are clearly stated.
1.2. Each published article will be assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) by the journal.
2. Open Access policy
2.1. «Universitas» Is an open access journal, available in open access with no time restrictions.
2.2. Self-archiving conditions: Authors are allowed to re-use published works, that is, post-print (or the final post-peer review or PDF version of the publisher) may be archived for non-commercial purposes, including their deposit in institutional repositories, thematic or personal web pages.
2.3. Versions: Authors will be able to upload the different versions: preprint, revised and published in academic social networks and platforms that merit their incorporation.
2.4. Open Access Statement: This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. According to the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition of open access, this journal permits users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of its articles and allows any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.
2.5. In UNIVERSITAS-XX1 the full text of all contents are available without delay for free and open access.
2.6. There is no embargo period
2.7. UNIVERSITAS-XX1 does not require users to register with the journal in order to read and download content.
3. Right of readers
3.1. Readers have the right to read all of our articles for free immediately after publication. This publication does not have any economic charge for the publication or for access to the material.
4. Automatic publishing
4.1. «Universitas» Makes its articles available in trusted third-party repositories (i.e. Redalyc, Latindex, institutional repositories ...) immediately after publication.
5. Archiving
5.1. This journal uses different national and international repositories such as Redalyc, Latindex, Dialnet, PKP PN and the Institutional Repository at the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana (Ecuador) are digitally archived and indexed.
6. Machine readability and interoperability
6.1. Full text, metadata, and citations of articles can be traced and accessed with permission. Our open social policy also allows the readability of the files and their metadata, facilitating interoperability under the OAI-PMH protocol of open data and open source. Files from both full-length publications and their article segmentation are available in open HTML, XML, but also PDF and E-Pub formats, making it easy to read on any device and computing platform.
7. Privacy Statement
7.1. The names and e-mail addresses entered in this magazine will be used exclusively for the purposes set forth herein and will not be provided to third parties or used for other purposes.
8. No fee Statement
This journal provides a fee-free model for both authors and readers, ensuring that there are no charges at any stage of the editorial process. Authors can submit, process, and publish their work without any fees, and readers enjoy unrestricted access to all articles without the need for subscriptions or payments. We are dedicated to making our publication freely accessible to everyone, fostering the free exchange of knowledge and ideas.
9. Repository policy
All versions, Submitted version, Accepted version (Author Accepted Manuscript), Published version, can be deposited in an institutional or other repository of the author’s choice without embargo.
In addition, UNIVERSITAS-XXI is listed in Mir@bel, a collaborative network that highlights editorial and open access policies, and in Open Policy Finder, a platform that collects and verifies self-archiving and reuse policies of scientific journals.
