PARTICIPATORY MONITORING OF CORN FROM ECUADOR FOR DETECTION OF THE PRESENCE OF GENETICALLY MODIFIED PROTEINS
Main Article Content
Abstract
Ecuador has been declared free of GeneticallyModified (GM) crops and seeds. However, it is doubtful if indeed Ecuadorian crops are not contaminatedwith transgenes either by gene flow or by the illegal use of GEMseeds. A participativemonitoring process of the Ecuadorean corn, carried out in 2012 and 2013 in 15 provinces of Ecuador, reveals no presence of the transgenic proteins Cr1Ab/Ac, pat and CP4EPSPS.
