Abstract
Esta obra es una compilación de los estudios que forman parte del proyecto de investigación "El color de la ciudadanía en América Latina. Discurso racial y dinámicas de género en la transición de los regímenes coloniales a los poscoloniales". Se trata de un análisis profundo y minucioso de cómo se aplicaron los conceptos de raza y de diferencias raciales desde el poder colonial. Los artículos son los siguientes: Las Cartas Annuas jesuitas y la representación de los etíopes en el siglo XVII (María C. Navarrete P.); Guerra justa y gobierno de esclavos: la defensa de la esclavitud negra en Bartolomé de Las Casas y Alonso de Sandoval (Juliana Beatriz Almeida de Souza); esclavización y mancha de sangre en el mundo atlántico del siglo XVII: discursos y trayectorias (Hebe María Mattos de Castro); El negro en un pensamiento colonial de principios del siglo XVII: diferencia, jerarquía y sujeción sin racialización (Eduardo Restrepo); La creación del ¿Otro' colonial. Apuntes para un estudio de la diferencia en el proceso de la conquista americana y de la esclavitud de los africanos (María Eugenia Chaves M.); El viaje dantesco de los etíopes: la construcción del ser esclavo en el periodo colonial (Catalina Ariza M.).
