Abstract

Telecommunication systems are currently handling very high speed rates, due to the large increment in demand thereof. This increased demand for information has led to use faster devices, since the higher demand, higher speed devices are needed. Whereby to identify a data frame it is necessary to use a synchronization algorithm, but now these algorithms do not provide the necessary strength when signals are received in an unfavorable environment (cities with large buildings concentration). This kind of medium can be modeled using a Rayleigh variable which resembles the behavior of multiple paths that a signal has in an environment with buildings, which can generate frequency offset. In this paper we analyze the changes needed to adapt the Schmild & Cox algorithm, designed to correct the frame offset and frequency offset in OFDM multicarrier systems, to be used in single carrier systems. The adapted algorithm synchronizes the data frame properly and effectively corrects the frequency offset generated by the Doppler shift and the phase shift which is introduced in the process of analog - digital conversion of the transmitting and receiving devices.
